Style & details

An animal portrait made to order is custom work. I start with a light sketch, build depth with pencil & ink and draw fine lines with fineliners. Result: realistic, full of detail and yet warm. Your animal is central – character, look and detail guide every choice. Prefer soft contrast or just graphic precision? We choose the right balance. Subtle gold paint can be used as an accent, if you like, for a timeless shine.

Coat, look & texture

  • Fine lines with fineliners for whiskers, coat texture and feathers.
  • Depth with pencil & ink in shadows and around the eyes.
  • Focus on the look: the moment when you think “yes, that’s him.”

Background: quiet or suggestive

  • Quiet white or soft ton-sur-ton: all attention to your animal.
  • Subtle suggestion of a setting (sofa, garden, favorite blanket) can be done – never too busy.
  • You choose. I advise. Always with an eye for balance.

Photos & character capture

Good reference photos are the basis. Ideally, send me 3-6 clear photos where eyes, fur and posture are in focus. Daylight works great; filters preferably not. A brief description helps me capture the character: mischievous, stately, zen or wacky? The better I understand your story, the more personal the portrait.

This is how we proceed:

Intake: you send photos and your wish
(style, size, gold paint if necessary).

Composition: I choose the best photo(s) or create a composite.

Prelude: you will get an outline update. Here you can still make adjustments.

Finishing: detail stage in pencil & ink, precision work with fineliners. Fixation and quality check. Ready for framing.
