Sources of Inspiration
This piece is a fusion of various sources of inspiration. The primary influence is the Art Nouveau style, known for its flowing, organic lines, decorative patterns, and strong emphasis on the relationship between humanity and nature. Artists such as Alphonse Mucha and Gustav Klimt have greatly shaped this work, particularly in terms of their use of symmetry, rich decorative elements, and the integration of symbolism into portraits.
In addition, classical mythology has played a significant role in the concept’s development. The female figure represents an archetypal goddess or mythical being, embodying feminine power, sensuality, and mystery. Her pose, both graceful and self-assured, brings to mind figures such as Hera, Aphrodite, or other mythical women who radiate both beauty and authority.
The gold accents in the piece refer to spirituality and transcendence. Gold is often associated with the sacred or exalted, and I wanted to emphasize the figure’s connection to a realm beyond the earthly. The decorative tree pattern behind her symbolizes the motif of life—growth, connection, and the cyclical nature of existence.

I hope viewers are moved by the balance between power and vulnerability that the figure conveys. Her posture invites interpretation: is she a queen, a goddess, or a mortal being representing something greater? The blend of graceful lines and rich symbolism is intended to evoke a sense of timelessness and wonder, as if the viewer is briefly drawn into a mythical world.
The piece is designed to elicit an emotional response, such as admiration for the delicacy of the details, or the question of what the figure might personally represent to each viewer. Some may find themselves curious about her story—who she is and what she symbolizes—while others may be more drawn to the decorative and aesthetic features, such as the gold accents or the complexity of the patterns.
My hope is that this work not only captivates visually but also stimulates viewers intellectually and emotionally, prompting questions about themes like beauty, strength, connection to nature, and humanity’s place in a greater universe.

  • Medium: The medium was chosen to highlight contrast and refinement. Ink is ideal for capturing sharp lines, intricate details, and symmetry. It provides a precise, graphic quality that helps the patterns and textures of the elements (such as the trees and the bas-relief) stand out. Gold paint adds not just a luxurious feel but also a symbolic element: for centuries, gold has been used to express the divine and the eternal—perfectly complementing the work’s mythological and spiritual atmosphere.
  • Subject: The subject matter was selected to explore the tension between humanity and nature, and between the individual and mythology. The figure sits on a throne or monument, making her elevated and symbolic, but her posture and expression keep her relatable. The backdrop of trees and circular shapes underscores her connection to natural and cosmic forces, while the bas-relief on the throne hints at ancient tales or legends deeply rooted in our collective consciousness.
  • Style: The Art Nouveau style was a natural choice due to its focus on decoration and integration. It allows me, as the artist, to harmoniously bring together elements from nature, architecture, and the human form. The flowing lines and repetition of patterns in the trees and the bas-relief are not only visually appealing but also lend structure and rhythm to the piece. This style supports the mythological theme while offering a contemporary interpretation of a classic art form.
